Eastminster’s Session voted unanimously to become a member church of More Light Presbyterians.
This is a non-profit organization dedicated to allowing the full participation of LGBTQIA+ people in life, ministry, and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society. The Session felt this decision was naming what was already true at Eastminster, which is that all are welcome and all are loved.
Alongside becoming a More Light Church we plan to more explicitly name that we are an open and affirming church, accepting of all of God’s children.
Mission Statement of More Light Presbyterians:
Following the risen Christ, and seeking to make the Church a true community of hospitality, the mission of More Light Presbyterians is to work for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) people in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.
